Northwich Woodlands

Explorer Guide

The Northwich Woodlands is an area of vibrant and accessible countryside stretching from the town’s doorstep to Marbury Country Park. An extensive network of paths provides the opportunity for exploration by foot, bicycle or on horseback. The area can also be enjoyed whilst cruising down the Trent and Mersey canal or River Weaver Navigation. These two historic waterways are linked by the famous Anderton Boat Lift; a feat of Victorian engineering.

The diverse range of habitats includes mature woodland, flower-rich grasslands, wetland and open water. The distinctive flora and fauna is influenced by the area’s industrial heritage with many rare and unusual species thriving on this legacy. The Northwich Woodlands is a special place for people and wildlife. The success of Northwich Woodlands has been achieved by a partnership of organisations working with the local community.
