The Rangers
A number of Countryside Rangers working for partner organisations manage land within the Northwich Woodlands. For Cheshire County Council's Countryside Management Service; Marbury Country Park (Chris Moseley), Anderton Nature Park (Dave James), Carey Park, Dairy House and Witton Mill Meadows (Pete Schofield), Ashton's and Neumann's Flashes (Steph Hefferan). The Rangers' role is to manage the land for recreation and wildlife - an interesting and varied duty sometimes involving traditional crafts such as hedgelaying. All of the Rangers' work is made easier by groups of regular and occasional volunteers who work alongside the various Rangers and their sites, joining in on a wide range of tasks. As examples, volunteers with FOAM who work closely with Cheshire Country Council's Ranger Service have been involved in dry stone walling at Teggs Nose, Macclesfield, regular wildlife surveys at the park and reedbed management.
